Vocalist, composer, arranger, poet and educator Darcey is celebrating her 35th year on her creative journey. Her singing got off to a good start as the house vocalist at Gurney’s Inn for 5 years. During that time she performed for celebrities Halston, Dick Cavett, Cheryl Tiegs, Peter Beard, Lauren Hutton, Bill Murray and Martin Scorsese and thousands of guests at this East End landmark. She also developed a wide repertoire of songs and styles that now add to her inventive interpretations of jazz standards. Can you say something about your first 2 CDs? Her 3rd CD “I Hear Music,” is scheduled for release in March 2012. Would like to know more about this CD? personnel? process? any originals?

Darcey studied music What classes did you take and/or with who? at Five Towns College and has performed in New York, Canada, Mexico, Atlantic City and Washington, DC. You mentioned something about 5,000 celebrations – wasn’t sure what that meant? She has written original songs and lyrics, put to good use with her own company, Love Sent Singing Phonegram, to share the gift of poem and song for the celebration of life events. Can you give more detail about how your phonegrams are composed, delivered, etc.?

Darcey’s practice as a music educator on the North Fork includes A Jazz Journey, an interactive program for children ages of students? specifics about activities?, and Performing from the Heart, a vocal? master class for girls 9-12. She also leads Music Together classes for newborns to 5 year olds.

Recently, a guest at a local concert told her “You have a way of touching the soul”. That makes the journey sweeter.
